About Omocestus panteli (Bolívar, 1887)
Omocestus panteli, commonly called Pantel's grasshopper, is a species of slant-faced grasshopper belonging to the family Acrididae. It is native to the Iberian Peninsula. The International Union for Conservation of Nature assessed this species in 2015 and assigned it the conservation status "LC" (least concern), meaning there is no immediate threat to the survival of the species. The genetics of Omocestus panteli still show lingering effects from the Last Glacial Maximum, with three separate genetically distinct clusters distributed across northwestern, central-southern, and northeastern regions of Iberia.
