About Omalotheca norvegica (Gunnerus) Sch.Bip. & F.W.Schultz
Omalotheca norvegica (Gunnerus) Sch.Bip. & F.W.Schultz, synonym Gnaphalium norvegicum, is a species of plant in the Asteraceae family. It is commonly called highland cudweed or Norwegian arctic cudweed. This species is native to eastern Canada and Greenland, and is widespread across most of Eurasia, ranging from the Mediterranean north to Finland and Iceland, and east to Siberia. Omalotheca norvegica resembles Omalotheca sylvatica, which is known as heath cudweed. It grows 8 to 30 cm tall, has three-veined leaves that are all roughly equal in length, and its leaves are woolly and hairy on both sides. In Great Britain, it is a rare species that grows on acidic mountain rocks in central Scotland and the northern highlands. It flowers from July to August.
