About Olearia odorata Petrie

Olearia odorata, commonly called the scented tree daisy, is a small divaricating shrub from the Asteraceae plant family, and it is endemic to New Zealand. It has small light green leaves and a large amount of interlacing twigs, and it typically reaches a height of around 2 to 4 meters. In spring, Olearia odorata produces numerous small white flowers. Remnant populations of this shrub growing in Otago provide habitat for native moths and insects, and land areas containing this species are now protected through covenants. This plant species is associated with Stathmopoda albimaculata, a moth that is classified as nationally endangered.
