About Olearia avicenniifolia (Raoul) Hook.fil.

Mountain akeake, scientifically known as Olearia avicenniifolia (Raoul) Hook.fil., is a small, bushy shrub or tree. It reaches up to 6 metres in height and 3 metres in width. This plant has thin, papery bark, and angular branchlets covered in white tomentum. Its leaves are oblong-lanceolate in shape, dark green in colour, and have a downy white underside. Leaves measure between 5–10 cm long and 3–5 cm wide. Mountain akeake produces clustered, daisy-like flowers with white rays and purple central disks. The flowers appear between November and February, have a sweet scent, are approximately 5 centimetres wide, and grow in clusters of three to ten. After flowering, the plant develops fluffy seeds.
