About Oenothera triloba Nutt.

Oenothera triloba, commonly known as stemless evening primrose and sessile evening primrose, is a flowering plant belonging to the primrose family. It is native to North America, and is primarily distributed across northern Mexico and the south-central United States. It grows in dry open habitats including glades, prairies, and occasionally lawns, and it seems to grow better in areas with soil disturbance. It is a winter annual that produces large yellow flowers in spring, and its flowers open around sunset. Among the Zuni people, this plant is an ingredient in schumaakwe cakes, and is used externally to treat rheumatism and swelling. Zuni people also grind its roots to use as food.
