About Oenothera hartwegii Benth.

Oenothera hartwegii Benth., commonly known as Hartweg's sundrops, has the scientific synonym Calylophus hartwegii. It is a species of flowering plant belonging to the evening primrose family, Onagraceae. This plant is native to the desert southwest region of the United States, as well as northern and western Mexico. It is a perennial plant that usually grows 30 to 45 cm (12 to 18 inches) tall and reaches 60 cm (24 inches) wide. It is used locally as a drought-resistant ground cover.
