About Oenomaus ortygnus (Cramer, 1782)
Oenomaus ortygnus, commonly known as the aquamarine hairstreak, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Lycaenidae. Its distribution range extends from Brazil, through Central America, to Tamaulipas, Mexico. Rare stray individuals of this species can occasionally be found as far north as southern Texas. This species inhabits wet and dry tropical forests located at low elevations. The wingspan of Oenomaus ortygnus measures between 30 and 38 mm.
