About Oecanthus capensis Saussure, 1878
Oecanthus capensis Saussure, 1878 is similar in appearance to Oecanthus pellucens, but is slightly smaller, with shorter overall wings. The elytra (the hardened forewings of this insect) are slightly stronger in females of this species, while male elytra are shorter. In females, the ovipositor is nearly the same length as the elytra. This species is found in southern, eastern, and central South Africa.
