About Octogomphus specularis (Hagen, 1859)

Octogomphus, commonly known as grappletail, is a genus of club-tailed dragonflies native to North America. This genus holds only one recognized species: Octogomphus specularis. This species, the grappletail, had not been observed in British Columbia for 40 years before citizen scientists re-discovered it in July 2020, while hiking in Davis Lake Provincial Park near Mission, B.C.
