About Nymphoides cordata (Elliott) Fernald

Nymphoides cordata, commonly called little floatingheart, has floating leaves that measure 30–70 mm in length. These leaves are cordate, or heart-shaped, with smooth, purple lower surfaces. Its flowers are white and have five petals. This species grows in eastern North America: it occurs from the eastern provinces of Canada south to Maryland, and then reappears from the Carolinas south to Louisiana. It grows in the habitat of freshwater ponds, lakes, and slow-moving rivers and streams.
