Nygmia plana Walker, 1856 is a species of moth. This species does not show very obvious sexual dimorphism between males and females. Its wingspan measures approximately 2 to 5 centimeters, and its whole body is predominantly orange. Each of its wings bears one distinct black spot. The full life cycle of Nygmia plana has not been thoroughly researched to date, though many of its caterpillars have been observed in the wild. The caterpillars have a body colored yellow, black, and red with white spikes, but some individuals do not develop spikes at all.
