Nyea lurideola (Zincken, 1817) has a wingspan of 31–38 mm. Its forewings broaden toward the outer margin, and are bright glossy lead grey. The forewings have a broad, regular light yellow costal band that becomes somewhat duller at the apex, with pure yellow fringes. The hindwings, head, neck, and male anal tuft are ivory yellow. On the underside, only the base and disc of the forewing are suffused with sooty grey, leaving a broad pale yellow outer border. The hindwing is pale yellow, with a slightly dark costal margin.
