About Nyceryx hyposticta C.Felder & R.Felder, 1874

Nyceryx hyposticta is a moth species belonging to the Sphingidae family. It is found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. This species is the largest in the genus Nyceryx. It can be distinguished by semitransparent spots in the distal half of its forewings, and a pink upperside on its hindwings marked with three transverse black bands. The underside of its forewing has numerous prominent yellow spots on the basal half. The base ground color of the hindwing upperside is pink, with three transverse black bands. Adults of this moth are active on the wing year round. Recorded flight periods include February to May in Bolivia, November in Peru, and October in Ecuador.
