About Notostigma carazzii (Emery, 1895)
Notostigma carazzii is a species of ant in the genus Notostigma. It was first formally described by Carlo Emery in 1895. This species is endemic to Australia, and most collected specimens have been found in the state of Queensland. Foraging worker individuals of this species forage alone, and are active during the night. George Wheeler documented the larvae of this species in a published journal article. He recorded the following body length measurements for larvae of different growth stages: very young larvae measure 3.7 mm, young larvae measure 5.4 to 10.2 mm, immature larvae measure around 8.7 to 10.3 mm, and mature larvae reach lengths of 8.3 to 15.4 mm.
