About Nomophila noctuella (Denis & Schiffermüller)

This species is Nomophila noctuella (Denis & Schiffermüller). Adults have a wingspan of 26–32 mm. Their forewings are very elongated and narrow, and typically have a basic brown color, with darker wide eight-shaped and reniform markings in the discal and postdiscal areas. Several dark brown spots lie close to the outer edge and the apex of the forewings. The hindwings are whitish with brown veins. Mature larvae are gray green and spotted, and reach a length of 15–20 millimetres (0.59–0.79 in). This species has a nearly cosmopolitan distribution, found in Europe, North Africa, Central Asia, Pakistan, and North America. In Europe, it is a migratory species that travels from southern Europe and North Africa to Northern Europe.
