About Niveoporofomes spraguei (Berk. & M.A.Curtis) B.K.Cui, M.L.Han & Y.C.Dai
Niveoporofomes spraguei, previously referred to as F. spraguei, is a perennial fungal species. It is sessile, growing protruding out from wood, and sometimes has edges that curl upwards. It can reach up to 4 cm in thickness. The upper surface of the fungus ranges from ivory white to grey, and lacks any concentric bands or growth rings. Individuals within the species can vary: the surface may either be covered in matted hair-like textures or completely smooth. The pore surface on the underside of the fungus can be white, buff, or pale brown, and sometimes carries a faint pink tint. The interior context of the fungus is tough and corky when broken open, with a colour ranging from white to grey. It has between 3 and 6 round pores per millimetre.
