About Niphopyralis chionesis Hampson, 1919
Niphopyralis chionesis is a species of moth belonging to the family Crambidae. It was first described by George Hampson in 1919. This moth is found in Australia, with confirmed records from the regions of Queensland, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory. Its wingspan measures approximately 20 mm. The forewings are glossy white, thickly scaled, and show traces of a wavy dark brown antemedial line that is absent toward the costa. There is a faint sinuous medial line that angles outward beyond the cell and terminates at the submedian fold. A more distinct subterminal line is present; this line curves outward from below the costa to vein 2, then runs obliquely and follows a sinuous path. A series of dark elongated markings runs along the terminal edge of the forewings. The hindwings are glossy white, with a faint brownish shading located beyond the cell. They also have a thin dark brown terminal line that extends to near the tornus, and a small dark point at the submedian fold.
