About Nepytia canosaria (Walker)

Nepytia canosaria, commonly known as the false hemlock looper, is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. This species was first formally described by Francis Walker in 1863. Its range extends from southwest British Columbia eastward to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, and southward through New England. The wingspan of this moth is approximately 30 mm. Adult moths fly from August to September, with the exact timing varying by location. The larvae feed on balsam fir, eastern hemlock, and spruces, and will occasionally feed on other conifer species.
