About Nephilingis livida (Vinson, 1863)

Nephilingis livida is a spider species first described by Vinson in 1863. For female individuals of this species, abdomen color ranges from creamy to brown, blue, or purple, and they have a dark brown venter. Adult females reach a total body length of approximately 15 to 24 millimeters. Males are much smaller, only reaching a body length of 3 to 5 millimeters. Males have a yellow-brown sternum and a grey abdomen marked with white dots. This species is distributed in Madagascar and the surrounding islands, including the Comoro Islands, the Seychelles, and the Aldabra atoll within the Seychelles. In Madagascar, Nephilingis livida is commonly found inside human dwellings.
