Neottia smallii (Wiegand) Szlach., which has the scientific synonym Listera smallii, is commonly known as the kidneyleaf twayblade or the Appalachian twayblade. It is a terrestrial orchid species that is native to the eastern United States. It grows in the Appalachian Mountains, ranging from northern New Jersey in the north to northeastern Georgia in the northeast of the state.
