About Neopithecops zalmora Butler, 1870

Neopithecops zalmora, commonly called the Quaker, is a small butterfly belonging to the lycaenid (blues) family. It is found across South Asia and Southeast Asia. Its confirmed distribution range includes the Eastern Himalayas, Bengal (Orissa), the Western Ghats, Sri Lanka, Assam, Myanmar, Tenasserim, and the Andamans in India and neighboring regions, with its range extending further into the Malay Peninsula. The larvae of this butterfly feed on species from the genus Diospyros in the Ebenaceae plant family, and many species from the genus Glycosmis in the Rutaceae plant family, specifically including Glycosmis arborea, Glycosmis parviflora, and Glycosmis pentaphylla.
