About Neominois ridingsii (Edwards, 1865)

Neominois ridingsii, commonly known as Ridings' satyr, is a species of butterfly belonging to the family Nymphalidae. This species ranges across North America from southern Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba in the north, south to Guadalupe County and Catron County in New Mexico, and west to the central Sierra Nevada of California and central Oregon. Its typical habitat includes short-grass prairie, intermountain regions, and grasslands that contain patches of bare soil. The larvae of Neominois ridingsii feed exclusively on Bouteloua gracilis.
