About Neolitsea sericea (Blume) Koidz.

Neolitsea sericea (Blume) Koidz. is a species of medium-sized tree belonging to the Lauraceae family. It is distributed across China, Taiwan (Orchid Island and Green Island), South Korea, and Japan. Its natural habitat includes forest margins, slopes, and it commonly grows in well-developed secondary forests. This tree reaches a maximum height of 10 meters (33 feet). Its leaves are evergreen, with a distinct whitish color on their lower surface. It produces yellow flowers in autumn, and its fruit is a red berry. Neolitsea sericea is recognized to contain two varieties: Neolitsea sericea var. sericea and Neolitsea sericea var. aurata. The second variety may alternatively be classified as a separate species, Neolitsea aurata.
