About Neolitsea parvigemma (Hayata) Kaneh. & Sasaki

Neolitsea parvigemma (Hayata) Kaneh. & Sasaki is a small to medium-sized tree species belonging to the Lauraceae plant family. It is endemic to Taiwan, and restricted to the south-central mountain regions of the island. Several chemical compounds extracted from Neolitsea parvigemma have notable biological properties. The essential oil obtained through hydrodistillation of N. parvigemma leaves has antifungal activity, and acts against fungi that cause wood decay. Sesquiterpenes isolated from the stems of this species have anti-inflammatory properties.
