This plant grows low to the ground, producing a fleshy stem and thick, bristly leaves. Its flowers are tiny, measuring only around one centimeter wide. The flowers have a broad bell shape, and their color varies widely. Some flowers are blue, while most are white with various markings. These markings include small blue streaks or speckles, or a noticeable purple spot at the tip of each petal. Native habitats of Nemophila pedunculata include ocean bluffs, moist open areas, and grasslands.
