About Narcissus papyraceus Ker Gawl.

This species, Narcissus papyraceus Ker Gawl., has upright, mid-green stems. Mature plants typically reach a height of 1 to 1.5 feet (30 to 45 cm), though height varies between different varieties. Each stem bears multiple white, strongly scented flowers at its top.

In cultivation, many cultivars of this plant are available, and they are easy to force into blooming indoors. Unlike other Narcissus species, paperwhites do not need a chilling period to encourage blooming. Bulbs start growing immediately after planting, and flowers emerge 3 to 4 weeks after planting. Narcissus papyraceus grows best in moist, peat moss-based potting mix. It can also be grown in containers filled with just water. Cool temperatures between 50 and 65 °F (10 and 18 °C) and indirect light help extend the length of its bloom period.
