About Naphrys pulex (Hentz, 1846)

Males of Naphrys pulex have gray and black mottling on the upper surfaces of their cephalothorax, abdomen, and legs, with orange coloring along the sides of the cephalothorax. This species occurs in tall grass prairies and wooded areas. It is very common in mesic hardwood forests that have abundant leaf litter. It can also frequently be found in buildings, on tree bark, or on rock outcrops. Naphrys pulex feeds primarily on ants and other arthropods.
