About Nannothemis bella (Uhler, 1857)
Nannothemis is a genus of dragonflies that belongs to the family Libellulidae. This genus is monotypic, meaning it contains only one species: Nannothemis bella, which is commonly known as the elfin skimmer. The elfin skimmer is native to eastern United States and Canada, and it is the smallest dragonfly species found in North America. Male elfin skimmers have a powdery blue coloration, while female individuals are black and yellow, with a color pattern that resembles a wasp.
