About Nama demissa A.Gray

Nama demissa A.Gray (common name purple mat) grows in small patches of hairy, glandular foliage, reaching up to three inches in height. Its flowers display colors from pinkish to purple, and its blooming period runs from February to May. This plant grows in dry sandy or gravelly flats between 2000 and 5500 feet elevation in creosote bush scrub. It is distributed across the desert southwest of the United States, including the Mojave Desert, and in parts of Mexico.
