About Nacaduba cyanea (Cramer, 1775)
Nacaduba cyanea, commonly known as the tailed green-banded line-blue, is a butterfly species that belongs to the family Lycaenidae. It was formerly classified as a member of the genus Danis. This species occurs in Indonesia (specifically Irian Jaya and Maluku), Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and Queensland, Australia. Its wingspan reaches approximately 30 mm. Adult males of this species are blue, with a dark brown margin along their wings, and a pale blue to white patch on the hindwing. Females are white, with a black border surrounding the wings, and a row of black spots edged in blue. The larvae feed on Entada phaseoloides and Entada scandens. The larvae are bright green, with pale brown heads, and they are tended by ants from the genus Anonychomyrma. Pupation occurs in a brown pupa that bears dark markings.
