About Mythimna l-album Linnaeus, 1767

Technical description and variation: The wingspan of Mythimna l-album is 30–35 mm. Forewing length ranges from 15 to 16 mm. The forewing is greyish ochreous, with an olive brown tint running through the cell toward the apex and along the outer margin below the apex. The outer half of the median vein is white, with a short hook at the end; veins 3 and 4 are whitish. There is a black streak extending from the base below the cell; veins are pale and outlined with dark color. The oblique streak from the apex has black marks between the veins on both sides; a pale submarginal band is present below the middle. The hindwing is grey, turning fuscous toward the termen. The larva is yellowish brown; the dorsal line is fine and paler, with black edges. The subdorsal line is black, edged with pale color along its upper edge; below this line there are some faint dark lines; the spiracles are black. Adults of this species occur mainly in July, with a second generation in September and October.
