About Mythimna congrua Hübner

Mythimna congrua Hübner is a species of moth. The adult moth has a wingspan of 31 to 36 millimeters. It has relatively broad forewings, which are yellowish-ocher in base color, with clearer veins running across their surface. A larger, clearer vein divides the median area of the forewing. Its hindwings are primarily greyish, marked with several veins and covered in dark gray dusting. The caterpillars of this species are yellowish, with white and ocher longitudinal lines and small black spots along their bodies. This species is quite similar in appearance to Mythimna riparia. It is widespread across southern Europe, Algeria, Turkey, Israel, Syria, the Caucasian and Transcaucasian region, Azerbaijan, Iraq and Turkmenistan. These moths are commonly found in damp environments such as marshes and floodplains, as well as in humid grassy areas.
