About Myscelia orsis (Drury, 1782)

This species is scientifically named Myscelia orsis (Drury, 1782). On its upperside: the antennae, thorax, and abdomen are brown; the abdomen has six spots. The wings are a very dark, changeable blue. The anterior wings feature a pale streak crossing them a short distance from each side of the thorax, along with several other small pale streaks on other areas of the wings. On its underside: the palpi are very small, hairy, and white, while the thorax, legs, and abdomen are all white. The wings are pale red brown, with a darker shade running along their external edges. Two faintly colored streaks run from the external edges toward the middle of the anterior wings. The margins of the wings are angulated and dentated. The wingspan of this species measures 57 mm (2.2 in).
