Myrmicaria natalensis (Smith, 1858), commonly called the Natal droptail ant, is an ant species that has a wide distribution across the Afrotropics. Confirmed recorded localities for this species include Guinea, Ivory Coast, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, Mozambique, Angola, Namibia, and South Africa — the country where the type specimen of this species was collected. Like all other species in the Myrmicaria genus, Myrmicaria natalensis has a distinct down-curved gaster and spines on its mesosoma.
