About Myrmeleotettix maculatus (Thunberg, 1815)
Myrmeleotettix maculatus (Thunberg, 1815), commonly known as the mottled grasshopper, is a species in the subfamily Gomphocerinae. It occurs across the Palearctic region, extending east as far as Siberia. In the northern part of its range, it spreads from the British Isles through Scandinavia and Russia, reaching approximately the Arctic Circle. In the south, its distribution extends to Morocco, across southern Spain, Calabria and Greece, all the way to Turkey. This species can be found from sea level up to around 2,500 meters above sea level, with documented occurrences in locations such as the French Alps and the Balkans.
