About Myriophyllum crispatum Orchard
Myriophyllum crispatum, formally named Myriophyllum crispatum Orchard, has stems that grow between 25 and 60 cm (9.8 to 23.6 in) in height. Its leaves are arranged in whorls of 5 to 8 leaves. Submerged leaves of this species are thread-like, and carry between 12 and 20 leaflets each. Intermediate leaves are thicker than submerged leaves, with 6 to 8 short pinnae, and they transition into smooth, linear, terete leaf forms. This species is monoecious, meaning it bears both male and female flowers on the same individual. Male flowers have 4 petals that range in color from cream to dark brown or purple. Female flowers do not have any petals. Myriophyllum crispatum is distributed across Western Australia, south-eastern Australia, northern Tasmania, and south-eastern Queensland. It grows most commonly in shallow, stagnant water.
