This species is scientifically named Myrina silenus (Fabricius, 1775). Males have a wingspan ranging from 26.5 to 34 mm, while females have a wingspan of 33 to 41 mm. Adult individuals are active throughout the year across their entire range, with flight activity peaking from September to October and from April to June in the eastern portion of the species' range. Larvae of this species feed on various Ficus species, specifically including Ficus capensis, Ficus cordata, Ficus sur, Ficus pumila, and Ficus ingens.
