About Myosurus minimus L.

Myosurus minimus L. is a species of flowering plant in the buttercup family Ranunculaceae, commonly called tiny mousetail, or simply mousetail. It is native to a large portion of the Northern Hemisphere, including parts of Europe, Asia, North Africa, and North America. It typically grows in moist habitats, including riverbanks and wet meadows. This is an annual plant that forms a small tuft reaching up to roughly 12 cm (5 inches) in height. Its leaves are linear and narrow, sometimes appearing threadlike, and grow up to 6 cm (2.4 inches) long. Each inflorescence bears a single flower that features an elongated, cylindrical or cone-shaped receptacle that grows up to 4 cm (1.6 inches) long. Curving, spurred sepals, five petals up to 3 mm long, and ten stamens are located at the base of this receptacle.
