About Myiothlypis rivularis (zu Wied-Neuwied, 1821)
The riverbank warbler, whose scientific name is Myiothlypis rivularis, is sometimes called the Neotropical river warbler or simply river warbler. This common name can lead to confusion with the species Locustella fluviatilis. It is a bird species that belongs to the family Parulidae. This species occurs at low elevations near bodies of water, within forests and woodlands. Its range is made up of three separate, geographically disconnected populations. The first subspecies, M. r. mesoleuca, lives in the eastern Amazon of Brazil, the Guianas, and southern and eastern Venezuela. The second, the nominate subspecies, is found in the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil, eastern Paraguay, and far northeastern Argentina. The third and final population, M. r. bolivianus, is located in the Yungas of Bolivia.
