About Muilla coronata Greene
Muilla coronata Greene is a species of flowering plant with the common name crowned muilla. It is native to the deserts of eastern California and southern Nevada, where it grows in scrub, Joshua Tree woodland, and on the slopes of nearby mountains. This is a perennial plant that grows from a corm, and reaches a maximum height of 15 centimeters. Its flowering stem produces an umbel-shaped cluster of flowers, with a maximum of 10 flowers (usually fewer) each held on a pedicel up to 3 centimeters long. Each flower has six white tepals; they often have a blue tinge on the inner surface and a greenish tinge on the outer surface. At the center of the flower are six stamens with wide, white, petal-like filaments. These filaments are partially fused together to form an erect, cylindrical "crown".
