About Muhlenbergia glomerata (Willd.) Trin.
This grass species, Muhlenbergia glomerata (Willd.) Trin., grows branching stems that reach up to 1.2 meters in height from a network of rhizomes. Its inflorescence is a narrow panicle holding spikelets, each of which can be up to 8 millimeters long.
A North American grass, it grows in moist locations across many different habitat types. Its native habitats include bogs, marshes, meadows, ditches, fens, swamps, riversides, lakeshores, hot springs, wet forests, alvars, and seasonally flooded land. Compared to many other C4 grass species, it grows primarily in cooler, wetter locations, and it occurs far less frequently in dry areas.
