About Muehlenbeckia ephedroides Hook.fil.
Muehlenbeckia ephedroides Hook.fil. displays colours that range from grey-green and grey to grey-black. Its stems are branched, measure 1 millimetre (0.039 in) in diameter, and are flexuous, striate, and puberulent, matching the species' typical colour range. Leaves share the same colour range as the stems, are glabrous, and grow 5–25 millimetres (0.20–0.98 in) long. Inflorescences are either fascicled or racimed, with pale pedicels 1–1.5 millimetres (0.039–0.059 in) long. This species produces both pistillate and staminate flowers. Flower lobes are narrow-triangular, and can be white, pale yellow-green, or green. Stigmas are obovoid trigonous and 1.5 millimetres (0.059 in) long. The tepals are white, succulent, and swollen. Its twigs are leafless. This plant grows at elevations between 0 and 1,200 metres (0–3,937 ft) in coastal or subalpine climates. It occurs near rivers, on beaches, on sand spits, and on alluvial fans.
