About Moricandia arvensis (L.) DC.
Moricandia arvensis, commonly called purple mistress, is a flowering plant species belonging to the Brassicaceae family. Its native distribution is broadly centered in the western Mediterranean region, ranging from the Canary Islands through northern Africa (including Mauritania and Chad), across the Iberian Peninsula and Italy, and reaching as far east as Greece. It has also been introduced to France, Corsica, and Sardinia. This species possesses an intermediate C3–C4 carbon fixation system, which is referred to as C2 photosynthesis.
