About Moraea vegeta L.
Moraea vegeta L. has sarmentous stems. Its branches carry lily-like flowers that are 6โ8 centimetres (2.4โ3.1 in) wide. The flowers are white with yellow central markings, are also described as white marked with yellow and violet, and have six free tepals not joined into a tube at their bases. Each flower lasts only a few days. This species grows up to 60 centimetres (24 in) in height, with a spread of 30โ60 centimetres (12โ24 in), and forms dense basal tufts shaped like an extended fan. It prefers to grow in semi-shade under tall, open trees. After flowering, the plant's seedpods often bend the stalks down to the ground, which gives new plants a better chance to successfully propagate. Dietes iridoides is widely distributed across Africa, ranging from Ethiopia to South Africa.
