Montanelia panniformis, commonly called the shingle camouflage lichen, is a species of saxicolous (rock-dwelling) foliose lichen belonging to the family Parmeliaceae. This lichen has a mostly circumboreal distribution across Asia, Europe, and North America. It is widely distributed across Europe, where it has been recorded in 23 countries. In North America, its scattered range reaches north to Alaska and the Northwest Territories, and it is known from only one location in Baja California, Mexico. While Montanelia panniformis is typically a rock-dwelling species, it has rarely been documented growing on bark or wood.
