About Monstera obliqua Miq.

Monstera obliqua Miq. is a species in the plant genus Monstera that is native to Central and South America. Like most other Monstera species, it is hemiepiphytic. This species is especially well known for its foliage. In mature specimens from a small number of varieties, the leaves are extremely perforated, and are sometimes described as having more empty space than actual leaf tissue. An illustration showing the full range of general variation in adult leaf shape among different individuals of this species can be found in Michael Madison's publication A Revision of Monstera. This species is not commonly grown in cultivation, but the name Monstera obliqua is often incorrectly used for specimens of the more widespread species Monstera adansonii.
