About Monotropastrum humile (D.Don) H.Hara

Monotropastrum humile (D.Don) H.Hara is a myco-heterotrophic plant species belonging to the Ericaceae family. It can be found across eastern Asia, ranging from the Himalayas to the Japanese Islands. This species does not produce chlorophyll, so it cannot carry out photosynthesis the way most plants do. Instead, it obtains sugars and nutrients from mycorrhizal fungi. It is sometimes classified under the synonym Cheilotheca macrocarpa.
