About Moneta mirabilis (Bösenberg & Strand, 1906)
This description of Moneta mirabilis (Bösenberg & Strand, 1906) is based on the detailed morphological work of Zhu (1998). Females of this species have a total body length ranging from 5.0 to 6.0 mm. Their carapace is light yellowish-brown, marked with dark black stripes along its margins, and measures 1.7-2.0 mm long and 1.6-1.85 mm wide. The dorsal surface of the abdomen is light yellowish-brown, with light black spots and numerous small, light reddish-white scale-like spots. Males are slightly smaller than females, with an approximate body length of 4.9 mm, and share the same coloration as females. The legs of this species have a distinct color pattern: the femora are light yellowish-brown, while all patellae, plus the metatarsi and tarsi of the third and fourth legs, are light blackish-brown. Moneta mirabilis has a broad distribution across East and Southeast Asia. It has been officially recorded from China, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Japan, and is one of the most widely distributed species within the genus Moneta.
