About Monardella nana A.Gray

Monardella nana A.Gray is a rhizomatous perennial herb. It grows into a tuft or mat of slender stems, lined with hairy to hairless oval leaves that can reach up to 3 centimeters in length. Its inflorescence forms a head holding several flowers, which blooms from a cup of pink-tinged white bracts. The flowers are tubular, range in color from white to pale pink, and grow up to 3 centimeters long. Several subspecies of this species exist, and all are restricted to the mountain region that straddles the border between California and Baja California.
