About Monardella breweri A.Gray

Monardella breweri is a hairy annual herb. It grows a branching, erect stem that reaches a maximum height of around 65 centimeters. Its oppositely arranged oval leaves grow up to 4.5 centimeters long. Its inflorescence forms a head containing several flowers, which blooms from a cup of stiff, pointed, veined, purplish bracts that can be up to 3 centimeters wide. Each flower is hairy, pinkish, five-lobed, and measures just over one centimeter long.

Monardella breweri is endemic to California. Its distribution ranges from the San Francisco Bay Area, through the Central Coast Ranges, to the Transverse Ranges, including the Santa Monica Mountains within the Greater Los Angeles Area. It can be found growing in chaparral and oak woodland habitats.
